Fireplace Finishes
With the cold weather (almost) here, now is the perfect time to focus on what will keep you warm – like your fireplace! And what better time to dress up the space where your stockings will be hung!
Now more than ever people are using their fireplaces to create a feature in their space. From floor to ceiling finishes, or a more traditional brick look – another case where the possibilities are really quite endless!
In this blog post I will feature some of our favorite finishes for fireplaces and hopefully inspire you to make your fireside chats all the more enjoyable during this winter season!
Traditional Brick-look:
A traditional brick-look is a timeless finish for your fireplace. We carry the Tribeca series in white as well as several stone look subway tiles which will achieve a similar look as the photo shown above! A stone or brick look tile is a great way to achieve a stunning look that is versatile, leaving you with the ability to easily change accessories, fabrics, paints etc!
Marble-look:
Just like we had shared in ‘Our Favorite Backsplash’ post, a marble-look tile is another timeless look. Whether the cool tones in a Carrara or the warm tones in a Crema Marfil, marble creates a glamorous feature in any room! A marble-look fireplace surround covers a few different categories as it comes in a variety of sizes such as large format and mosaics (see below).
Large Format:
Using a larger format tile on your fireplace can create a more modern look, with its clean lines and hard edges. Running your tiles from floor to ceiling will definitely emphasize the sleek modern look. A large format tile in a high-gloss can create a much different look than doing the same in a matte finish. Regardless of your preference, we have a large selection of both! Another Centura favorite are tiles in a Lappato finish, which is a semi-polished look – giving you a softer sheen than a high-gloss.
Mosaics:
Using a mosaic tile you can create a variety of different looks for your space. We carry mosaics in everything from stone to glass. If you are really looking for your fireplace to stand out then a more varied, or colourful mosaic would be the way to go!
